After the acquisition of the Historical Archive of Banco di Sicilia and the two buildings of Villa Zito and Palazzo Branciforte on December 31 2005 (which cost € 25 million), the heritage of Banco di Sicilia Foundation has flourished. The purpose of these acquisitions was to have an institutional venue as well as a permanent seat to keep the precious art collections of the Mormino Museum.
The cultural heritage of Fondazione Banco di Sicilia is rich in information about the island from pre-historic times to the twentieth century. It consists of a wide collection of goods that people can see along the rooms of the archaeological Ignazio Mormino Museum inside Villa Zito, the Historical Archive, or at Palazzo Branciforte and not to mention the subsidiary of Banco di Sicilia.
